Avi-Yona Bueno (Bambi)

Avi Yona Bueno or “Bambi”, began as a lighting designer for rock concerts and designed shows for leading Israeli music artists and international stars including Nina Simone and Louis Armstrong. Bambi worked for the Pink Floyd lighting company and Britannia Row Productions, designing for Meatloaf and touring with The Cure, The Commodores, and the Thompson Twins. In Israel Bambi worked with the Cameri Theatre and Habima National Theatre and is the resident designer for the Gesher Theatre and Itim Theatre Ensemble.
In 1995 he was honored with the Moshe Halevi Tel Aviv Prize and in 2011 he won the Best Lighting Theater Award for Gesher Theatre's "Six Characters in Search of an Author."
As the resident light designer at Batsheva Dance Company, Bambi illuminated many works of Ohad Naharin and Sharon Eyal. Abroad he designed for dance companies including the Nederlands Dans Theater, Paris Opera Ballet, and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. In addition to his work in theater and dance, Bambi’s light has illuminated operas, musicals, stadium productions, television productions, museum installations, and architectural projects around the world.
