Benedict Flath

From 2012 to 2015 Benedict Flath completed his vocational training as a specialist in event technology at Düsseldorf Congress Sport & Event GmbH. He subsequently spent a year working at the Mitsubishi Electric Halle before joining the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in August 2016, where he became a member of the lighting department. In 2020, he began further training to become a certified master technician for event technology. Since 2024, he has served as a master lighting technician and lighting supervisor at the Düsseldorf Opera House. In addition to his technical responsibilities, he oversees his own projects and develops lighting concepts - including for the children’s play “So oder so oder so” (Tom Smith) in the opera foyer, as well as for performances by the Ballett am Rhein at the Balletthaus as part of the "Jazz City Bilk" program in 2025 and 2026.
For the 2026/27 season at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Benedict Flath is responsible for the lighting design for the world premiere of James Reynolds’ “Die Mitternachtstür”.
