Caecilia Brenninkmeyer

Caecilia Brenninkmeyer studied musicology, music informatics, and art history at the Karlsruhe University of Music and at the Institute for Art, Music, and Theater at the Università di Bologna before earning her master's degree in music and performance under Prof. Anno Mungen at the Chair of Theater Studies with a special focus on musical theater at the University of Bayreuth. She began her doctorate at Goethe University Frankfurt under Prof. Thomas Betzwieser on the topic of “Opera and Cultural Identity – The History of Opera on the Mediterranean Island of Malta” and has since been researching this topic as part of the Mediterranean Study Group of the International Musicological Society (IMS). During her studies, she gained work experience at various cultural institutions in Germany and abroad, including the German Music Foundation (Hamburg), the Young Euro Classic Festival (Berlin), the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the Villa Aurora artist residency (Los Angeles), and the German Historical Institute (Rome). Internships and guest engagements in the field of dramaturgy also took her to the Bavarian State Ballet, the Dortmund Ballet, and the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. At the beginning of 2014, she was entrusted with her first assistant directing role for the project “Das Wachsfigurenkabinett” (The Waxworks) by the opera studio of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.

From the end of the 2014/15 season, Caecilia Brenninkmeyer worked as a dramaturge and production manager at Ballett am Rhein. Since the 2025/26 season, she has been in charge of Ballett am Rhein's dance education programme, ‘Tanz Mit!’ (Dance Along!).
