Dennis Orellana

Born in San Pedro Sula (Honduras), Orellana began his musical career as a trombonist before studying singing at the Escuela Superior de Canto de Madrid and then at the Stuttgart University of the Arts. A versatile artist with a rapidly growing international career, he consistently thrills audiences with his musicality, stage presence and distinctive voice. In a very short time, Orellana has established himself as one of the most exciting young voices on the international baroque and classical scene.
He made his opera debut in 2021 as Berardo in Porpora's “Carlo il Calvo” (Teatro Auditorio San Lorenzo del Escorial), followed by appearances as Amor in the Spanish-language baroque opera “La selva sin amor”, Cherubino (“Le nozze di Figaro”) and Moth (“A Midsummer Night's Dream”). At the Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival in 2022, he sang Zeffiro (“Il nascimento dell'Aurora”) and Ernesto (“Griselda”) before making his debut at La Scala in Milan the following season.
His recent successes include Irina (P. Eötvös' “Three Sisters”, Salzburg Festival), Bellezza (“Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno’, Knechtsteden and Modica Festival), Hunapuh (‘The Indian Queen” with the Berlin Philharmonic, in Paris and Salzburg), Alessandro (A. Caldara's “Il Venceslao”) and Isaaco in Marianna Martine's opera of the same name. He has worked with renowned artists such as Max Emanuel Cenčić, Julia Lezhneva and Franco Fagioli, as well as conductors such as Teodor Currentzis, George Petrou and Dorothee Oberlinger.
The 2025/26 season opens a new chapter in his career: Orellana will make his Asian debut in China with the Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as in a recital at the Italian Cultural Institute in Beijing.

Highlights in Europe include Cleopatra in Haendel's “Giulio Cesare in Egitto” at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Duisburg, Meleagro in “Atalanta” at the International Handel Festival, Tigrane in “Radamisto” (Halle and Wrocław) and Poro in Vinci's “Alessandro nell'Indie” (a production of the Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival) at the Theater an der Wien, staged by Max Emanuel Cenčić and conducted by Martyna Pastuszka with the Orkiestra. He will also appear in the song matinee “Pearls of Baroque Music” at the Theater Duisburg, sing Bellezza again in Haendel's “Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno” under Dorothee Oberlinger, and perform in Scarlatti's “Il Ciro” at the Teatro Goldoni in Florence as part of the new season of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
