Elana Siberski

Lighting designer Elana Siberski was studying theater and music when she discovered her fascination with the medium of light. After gaining her first experience in lighting technology at venues including the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich, she studied lighting design at the Bavarian Theater Academy August Everding.
As assistant head of lighting at the Theater Ulm and the Hanover State Opera, she designed the lighting for numerous opera and ballet productions. Since 2023, Elana Siberski has been a freelance lighting designer and has since worked at many major opera houses in Germany and Europe, including the Vienna State Opera, the Zurich Opera House, and La Monnaie in Brussels.
Since 2021, she has collaborated closely with director Lydia Steier on productions such as “Le nozze di Figaro”, “Die Frau ohne Schatten”, “Candide”, “Tannhäuser”, “Der Rosenkavalier”, as well as the world premieres of Michael Wertmüller’s music theater piece “Echo 72” in Hannover and Iain Bell’s opera “Medusa” at La Monnaie in Brussels.
Elana Siberski has also been working regularly with director Elisabeth Stöppler for years, most recently on the productions “Alice in Wonderland” at the Theater an der Wien and “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” at the Stuttgart State Opera. She previously designed the lighting for Daniel Kramer’s production of “Nixon in China” at the Hanover State Opera.
