Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, dancer Lamin Pereira began his training at Centro de Dança Rio before continuing his studies at the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre in New York.
His professional career in the United States began with The Washington Ballet Studio Company, followed by three seasons with Orlando Ballet. In 2014, he joined Kansas City Ballet, where he was promoted to Lead Dancer and performed an extensive repertoire spanning the classical and contemporary traditions. His principal roles included Albrecht in "Giselle", Siegfried in "Swan Lake", Prince Désiré in "The Sleeping Beauty", Oberon in "A Midsummer Night’s Dream", Jonathan Harker in "Dracula", Armand Duval in "Lady of the Camellias", and The Cavalier in "The Nutcracker".
During his time in Kansas City, he also performed works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Jiří Kylián, William Forsythe, Twyla Tharp, Yuri Possokhov, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Septime Webre, Edwaard Liang, Val Caniparoli, Bruce Wells, and Helen Pickett. Pereira was also invited to perform at the Benois de la Danse Gala at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, representing Septime Webre’s nominated choreography.
Pereira subsequently joined the Finnish National Ballet under the direction of Madeleine Onne, where he performed "Dust" by Akram Khan, "Raymonda" by Tamara Rojo, "Carmen" by Liam Scarlett, "Heatscape" by Justin Peck, and "Romeo and Juliet" by John Cranko, as well as the world premieres of "Jekyll & Hyde" by Val Caniparoli and "Swan Lake" by David McAllister.
In 2023, Pereira joined Semperoper Ballett in Dresden under the direction of Marcelo Gomes, performing a diverse repertoire that included Oberon in Frederick Ashton’s "The Dream", Theo in Johan Inger’s "A Swan Lake", Blue Bird in "The Sleeping Beauty", Prince Gremin in John Cranko’s "Onegin", and works by John Neumeier, Justin Peck, Twyla Tharp, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, and Aaron S. Watkin.
