Marcela Rahal

The Brazilian mezzo soprano Marcela Rahal studied her master's degree in Opera singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater ‘Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’ Leipzig, in the class of KS Prof. Roland Schubert. She graduated from her Singing Bachelors at the University of São Paulo (USP) in Francisco Campos Class (Brazil). She was also a member of two Opera Studios, the EMESP Opera Studio and at the Opera Academy of the ‘Theatro São Pedro’, both in São Paulo, Brazil. Awards include the First Prize at Concurso Tenor Viñas 2024, Grand finalist at the Neue Stimmen competition 2022. Marcela Rahal’s future and recent appearances include debuts as Siebel “Faust” (Gounod), Aristea in “L’Orontea” (Cesti), La Baronessa di Champigny in “Il Cappello di paglia di Firenze” (Rota) and Curra in “La forza del destino” (Verdi) at Teatro alla Scala, Maddalena “Rigoletto” (Verdi) at the Santa Fe Opera, Zweite Norn and Floßhilde “Götterdämmerung” (Wagner) at Bühnen Bern, the title role in “Carmen” (Bizet) in Oviedo Opera, Charlotte “Werther” (Massenet) in Ópera Nacional de Chile and debuts at the Royal Ballet and Opera as Enrichetta “I puritani” (Verdi) as well as Romeo in “I Capuleti e i Montecchi” (Bellini), Federica in “Luisa Miller” (Verdi), the title role in “Giustino” (Vivaldi) and Prinz Orlofsky “Die Fledermaus” (Strauss), all with the Luzerner Theater.
In concert, Marcela Rahal appeared in the Carnival Concert with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR), the Gala concert with Teatro Real Madrid as well as in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Mozart’s Requiem and Rossini’s Petite Messe solennelle, Mozart’s arias, Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, Verdi’s Messa da Requiem, Bach’s Weihnachtsoratorium, Bach’s St. John Passion, all in Brazil, Slovakia, Germany, and Switzerland.
