Maximiliano Danta

This year, countertenor Maximiliano Danta performed with the Accademia Bizantina under the direction of Ottavio Dantone in Tenerife, Budapest and Bucharest, where he played the roles of Sesto (“Giulio Cesare in Egitto” by G. F. Handel) and Fama (“Il trionfo della Fama” by F. B. Conti). In August, he made his debut as Anastasio in “Il Giustino” by A. Vivaldi at the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music and received rave reviews for his performance. The Uruguayan-born countertenor won first prize and the critics' prize at the 10th Renata Tebaldi International Voice Competition (baroque section) in 2025, as well as first prize at the 15th International Singing Competition for Baroque Opera “Pietro Antonio Cesti” and the National Art Prize (Italy) (XVII edition, section for music with historical instruments and voices). He has worked with renowned conductors and musicians such as Ottavio Dantone, Gabriel Garrido, Antonio Greco, Luca Guglielmi and Gerd Amelung. His roles include Teagene (“Achille in Sciro” by J. F. Agricola), Pagio (“Ercole amante” by F. Cavalli), Cupid (“Venus & Adonis” by John Blow), il Mago and lo Spirito (“Dido & Aeneas” by Henry Purcell), as well as Pastore, Messaggera and Speranza (“L'Orfeo” by C. Monteverdi). With his ensemble L'Humana Fragilità, he performs in various musical programmes as a multi-instrumentalist (vocals, lirone and cornetto).
