A meteoric success in the world's top vocal competitions, Nombulelo Yende establishes herself as an international star on the rise. Nombulelo is a laureate of some of the world’s most prestigious vocal competitions, including Operalia (Opus Arte Prize, 2023), Cardiff Singer of the World (One of Five Global Finalists, 2023) the Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition (First Prize, 2022), Neue Stimmen (Audience Prize, 2019), and the Vincenzo Bellini Competition (Winner, 2018). Upcoming and recent engagements include her debuts in the title role of Bellini’s “Norma” at Bühnen Bern and as Mimí in “La Boheme” at Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Micaëla in “Carmen”, and Angèle “Der Zar lässt sich fotografieren” at Oper Frankfurt, concert appearances at Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and Opera Orchestre National Montpelier, as well as a Solo Concert debut at Wigmore Hall. Other recent successes include performances as Tatyana “Eugene Onegin”, Nastasja “Die Zauberin”, Contessa “Le nozze di Figaro” at Oper Frankfurt, as well as a standout appearance as Maria in “Mazeppa” at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl. Previous engagements include Flowermaiden “Parsifal”, Sandman “Hänsel und Gretel”, Guardian of the Temple’s Threshold and Falcon “Die Frau ohne Schatten”, Suor Dolcina “Suor Angelica”, Polya “Die Zauberin”, and Overseer “Elektra” in Frankfurt, as well as Giulietta “I Capuleti e i Montecchi” at Cape Town Opera. At the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, she will perform at the 16th Opera Gala for the German AIDS Foundation.
