Peter Lewys Preston

Peter Lewys Preston studied at the Bayerischen Theaterakademie München in Munich and Shenandoah University in Virginia. He won the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang twice in a row, received special prizes from the "Jugend kulturell" Foundation and the German Music Council, and was nominated for Best Leading Actor at the German Musical Theatre Prize. In the development of new works, he portrayed the title role in Christian Auer's "Frankenstein," Wilhelm Grimm in Marc Schubring's "Jakob und Wilhelm – Weltenwandler," Rachmaninoff in the German-language premiere of Dave Malloy's "Préludes," and Carl Bruner in Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard's "Ghost – The Musical." He also played leading and title roles in productions such as "Casanova" (Benatzky), "Hairspray" (Shaiman), "My Fair Lady" (Loewe), and "Liebe, Mord und Adelspflichten" (Lutvak). His film credits include the international feature film "The Weight" with Ethan Hawke and Russell Crowe, “Ich bin! Margot Friedländer“, “Taunuskrimi“, “Der Alte“, “Blutige Anfänger“ and the historical epic "Louis van Beethoven" as Karl van Beethoven. In addition to his work as an actor and singer, he is active as a musical director for film, television, and stage, as well as a translator, composer, and producer.
Peter Lewys Preston will appear as Ozzie in Leonard Bernstein's "On the Town" at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein during the 2025/26 season.
