Tanja Kontny has been working as a dance teacher for contemporary dance since 2013. During her training at the Remscheid Academy with Dr. Ronit Land and Fabian Chyle, she focused her work on choreography, improvisation, and the interdisciplinary teaching of dance. Influenced by the process-oriented working method of the RSVP according to Anna Halprin, the dance projects for children, young people, and adults are particularly dedicated to promoting creative and physical potential, human connections, and conscious awareness of movement.
In addition to her own choreographic work at the interface of visual arts and dance, Tanja works on a project basis at elementary, special needs, and secondary schools, as well as for various cultural education institutions, the Ringlokschuppen Ruhr, the Tanzhaus NRW, and various art museums (Kunstmuseum Reutlingen, K20 Düsseldorf, Kunstmuseum Mülheim Ruhr). In 2021, as part of a scholarship, she developed a training concept for educators and artists to pass on her experience in project work with children and young people. This led to the creation of the association kidsconnected.de. In 2024, together with the Förderverein KroKi Düsseldorf e.V., she received the NRW Development Award for Cultural Education for her project TREFFPUNKT GRENZE. Since 2025, she is part of the teaching team at Tanz mit! + Tanz mal!.
