Opera and bluegrass – completely different worlds? This season, there will once again be unexpected musical encounters at the bar on the main stage of the opera house. The Cologne bluegrass band ‘Bashed Potatoes’ will kick things off on 30 October in a rendezvous with singers from the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Opera singing and art song meet the virtuoso genre of country music with guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, double bass and voice. What similarities can be discovered on this first date and whether a lasting connection might even develop here will only be decided at the bar...
