Music that smiles
In the stylish ambience of the Düsseldorf Opera Foyer, members of the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra and singers from the opera ensemble explore known and unknown masterpieces of chamber music.
This matinee opens with Richard Wagner's famous “Siegfried Idyll,” a gift from Richard to his wife Cosima, before mezzo-soprano Sarah Ferede performs the five “Wesendonck Lieder,” composed in 1858 to texts by Mathilde Wesendonck. Johannes Brahms' Serenade No. 2 in A major was also premiered in the same year. This work, composed in the style of Mozart, concludes the chamber music morning.
