„Under the greenwood tree“

The Opera Studio of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein performs Shakespeare

William Shakespeare was not only a master of musical language; his plays also feature frequent singing – by fools, fairies, spirits and lovers, at royal courts, on stormy coasts or in the Forest of Arden. Five young singers from the Deutsche Oper am Rhein’s Opera Studio immerse themselves in this musical world and present songs based on Shakespeare’s texts and from Shakespeare’s era, including works by Johannes Brahms, Erich W. Korngold and Roger Quilter, as well as a scene from Benjamin Britten’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”.

For this concert, the Opera Studio is collaborating for the first time with the Drama Studio of the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus.
