Renê Salazar
Renê Salazar, geboren in São Paulo, Brasilien, lebt in der Schweiz und begann seine Karriere als Tänzer. Nach seiner Ausbildung in São Paulo war er von 2001 bis 2012 Solist am Teatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro. Anschließend wandte er sich dem Bühnen- und Filmdesign zu und absolvierte ein Studium der Szenografie an der Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO), während er parallel als Filmpraktikant und Assistent im Bühnenbild arbeitete.
Seither ist Salazar international als Bühnen- und Kostümbildner für Oper, Theater und Ballett tätig. Zu seinen Arbeiten zählen "Giselle", "Touch of Illusion" und "Diversity" für das Astana Ballet, "Diamante" für das Ballet del Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires sowie die Kostüme für "Trilogia Amazônica" im Rahmen des Kulturprogramms der Olympischen Spiele 2016 in Rio. Weitere Produktionen entstanden u. a. am Teatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, Teatro Sérgio Porto, Circuito SESC und Teatro NET.
Er arbeitet regelmäßig mit dem Choreografen Ricardo Amarante zusammen und realisierte Projekte für Compagnien wie Atlanta Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Vanemuine Ballet und Kiev Ballet.
Zu seinen jüngeren Arbeiten zählen "Alice in Wonderland" (Companhia Nacional de Bailado, Lissabon, 2021), "Firebird / Scheherazade" (Vanemuine Ballet, 2022) sowie "Delight" für das Miami City Ballet und "4× Rousseau" für Cie. La Ronde (beide 2024). 2025 entstand "The Bubble" für das Tanzhaus Basel.
Born in São Paulo, Brazil, and based in Switzerland, Renê Salazar began his career as a dancer. After training in São Paulo, he performed as a soloist with the Municipal Theatre of Rio de Janeiro from 2001 to 2012. He later transitioned into stage and film design, earning a degree in scenography from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO), while also working as a film trainee and assistant stage designer in Rio.
Salazar has since built an international career as a set and costume designer for opera, theatre, and ballet. His work includes "Giselle", "Touch of Illusion", and "Diversity" for Astana Ballet, "Diamante" for the Ballet of the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, and costume designs for "Trilogia Amazônica" as part of the Rio 2016 Olympic Cultural Programme. His designs have also been presented at Teatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, Teatro Sérgio Porto, Circuito SESC, and Teatro NET.
A frequent collaborator of choreographer Ricardo Amarante, he has worked with companies including Atlanta Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Vanemuine Ballet, and Kiev Ballet.
