Norma Magalhães

The Brazilian-born dancer Norma Magalhães was awarded a scholarship by the Mannheim Dance Academy to study with Birgit Keil and Eric Blanc at the State Academy for Music and Performing Arts in Mannheim, and obtained her first experiences of performing at the State Theatre in Karlsruhe, where she appeared in numerous classical ballets including ‘Swan Lake’, ‘Giselle’, ‘The Nutcracker’ and ‘La fille mal gardée’. In 2013, she took up her first full-time engagement at the Thuringian State Ballet and has since performed a number of leading roles in ballets from the classical and modern repertoires. She has won numerous awards, for example at Tanzolymp Berlin, the Brasilia International Dance Seminar and the Joinville Dance Festival in Brazil. Norma Magalhães became a member of Ballett am Rhein company at the beginning of the 2015/16 season and has danced here in works by choreographers including Martin Schläpfer, Hans van Manen, Jerome Robbins and Hubert Essakow. She recently appeared in Demis Volpi’s "A simple piece", as the Snow Queen in "The Nutcracker", as Senora Lopez in "Geschlossene Spiele", as well as in Volpi’s production of "Bluebeard’s Castle" and as Mrs. Martins in Andrey Kaydanovskiy’s "Die kahle Sängerin", in Marco Morau's "Le sacre du printemps".
