Clarke Ruth

Bass Clarke Ruth hails from Toronto, Canada. After completing his Bachelor's degree at the University of Western Ontario, he went on to complete a Master's degree in opera performance at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. In 2019, he received scholarships from the Richard Wagner Association and the WDR Rundfunkchor. An award at the Concours International de Chant de Clermont-Ferrand 2021 enabled him to perform the role of Alessio in Bellini's "La sonnambula" in various cities in France. Roles he has interpreted several times include the Father in Humperdinck's "Hansel and Gretel", for example with the Hofgarten Orchestra Bonn. Since the summer of 2021 Ruthe Clarke can be seen regularly as Escamillo in an adaptation of "Carmen" at the Theater Kantine in Düsseldorf. From the 2022/23 season, Clarke Ruth will be a permanent member of the ensemble in the music theatre at the Stadttheater Gießen, where she can be seen as Mocenigo in Donizetti's "Caterina Cornaro", Angelotti in "Tosca" (Puccini) and Quince in Britten's "A Midsummer Night's Dream".
Clarke Ruth makes his first guest appearance at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein with the vocal role of Phanuel (Massenet's "Herodiade").
