Julia Sitkovetsky

Born in London, lyric-dramatic coloratura soprano Julia Sitkovetsky made her debut at age 16 as Flora in Britten's "The Turn of the Screw" at the Glyndebourne Festival and at English National Opera in London. She completed her vocal studies in 2014 at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she was a scholarship student, having previously studied music at The Queen's College, Oxford University from 2009-2012. In 2014/15, she was a member of the English National Opera Works Programme. She has been a finalist and prize winner in several competitions. Her repertoire includes roles such as Mimì (Puccini "La Bohème"), Gilda (Verdi "Rigoletto"), Louise in Henze's "The English Cat", Emilia (Vivaldi "Catone in Utica") Maria (Trojahn "Was ihr wollt"), Ida (Henze "Der junge Lord"), Morgana (Handel "Alcina") as well as her parade role The Queen of the Night in Mozart's "The Magic Flute", among others. Engagements have taken her to the Hanover State Opera, Semperoper Dresden, Scottish Opera in Glasgow, the Landestheater Linz and the Komische Oper Berlin. She is also internationally active in the field of lieder and concerts and has performed, for example, at the Wigmore Hall in London or with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra in Poland. Furthermore, her CD recordings with songs by Schotakowitsch and Elgar are commercially available.
At the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Julia Sitkovetsky has already appeared as Waldvogel (Wagner "Siegfried") and Sonne / Prinzessin / Nachtigall in Ravel's "L'Enfant et les sortilèges" and Queen of the Night. In the 2022/23 season she returns to the Rhine once again as the Queen of the Night and will make her house debut at the Hamburg State Opera in this role.
