Morenike Fadayomi

Born in London, soprano Morenike Fadayomi first trained in dance at the Colombo Dance Factory in Zurich before taking singing lessons with Prof. Mag. U. Preier-Raunacher in Vienna. From 1993 to 1996 she was a soloist at the Stadttheater Basel, and since the 1997/98 season she has been an ensemble member of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Her repertoire includes roles such as Lady Macbeth (Verdi "Macbeth"), Senta (Wagner "Der fliegende Holländer"), Empress (R. Strauss "Die Frau ohne Schatten"), Chrysothemis (R. Strauss "Elektra"), Marta (d'Albert "Tiefland"), Emilia Marty (Janáček "The Makropulos Affair"), Katerina Ismailova (Shostakovich "Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk"), Renata (Prokofiev "The Fiery Angel") as well as Rosalinde (J. Strauss Sohn "Die Fledermaus"), Hanna Glawari (Lehár "The Merry Widow"), Saffi (J. Strauss Sohn "Der Zigeunerbaron"), Bess (Gershwin "Porgy and Bess"), Santuzza (Mascagni "Cavalleria Rusticana"), 3. Norn (Wagner "Götterdämmerung"), Kundry (Wagner "Parsifal"), Marquise de Berkenfield ("La fille du régiment"), Gabriella (Cvijović " Als wir nicht wussten wer wir waren", Lunete (Eggert "Iwein Löwenritter") and, among a multitude of other roles, Hexe (Humperdinck "Hänsel und Gretel"). Morenike Fadayomi has also appeared in the title roles of Puccini's "Tosca" and "Turandot", Verdi's "Aida", R. Strauss' "Salome", Bellini's "Norma", Catalani's "La Wally", Dvořák's "Rusalka", Janáček's "Katja Kabanova", and Bizet's "Carmen". International guest appearances have taken her to Amsterdam, Vienna, Rome, Turin, Toulouse, São Paulo, Washington, Chicago and Los Angeles, among others.
In the 2023/24 season, Morenike Fadayomi will appear at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein as the Witch, Lunete and Jente (Bock's "Anatevka"), among others.
