Valentin Ruckebier

Born in Wuppertal in 1997, bass Valentin Ruckebier has been studying singing at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf since 2017, initially with Prof. Ludwig Grabmeier and currently with Prof. Konrad Jarnot. As part of his studies, he sang various opera roles; in addition, he regularly appears as a lied and oratorio singer as well as in vocal ensembles, increasingly devoting himself to new music. He is a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation, received the Ria Fresen Foundation's sponsorship award and was a finalist in the 2019 Walter and Charlotte Hamel Foundation Singing Competition. Valentin Ruckebier is also active as a composer (studied in Düsseldorf with Prof. Manfred Trojahn and Prof. Oliver Schneller). His works have won awards at numerous international competitions and are regularly premiered by renowned performers and ensembles. In 2021 his opera "The Flight into Egypt" was performed at the Landestheater Linz, the Teatro Comunale di Modena and the Serbian National Theatre Novi Sad.
Valentin Ruckebier has been a member of the Opera Studio of Deutsche Oper am Rhein since January 2022 and has appeared here as Macbeth's servant, doctor, murderer and apparizione in Verdi's "Macbeth", The High Priest in Massenet's "Hérodiade", Hortensius in Donizetti's "La Fille du régiment", as the 2nd armoured man in Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte". Alessio in Bellini's "La sonnambula", Notary in Donizetti's "Don Pasquale" and Sciarrone in Puccini's "Tosca". A guest engagement as Soljonij in Eötvös' "Tri Sestri" also took him to the Theater Hagen. Valentin Ruckebier's roles for the 2023/24 season include Fedja in Bock's "Anatevka", Saretzkij in Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin", Hortensius in Donizetti's "La fille du régiment" and again 2nd Harnischter Mann.
