Pedro Maricato

Dancer
Pedro Maricato comes from Brazil. He trained as a dancer at the Pavilhão D Centro de Artes in São Paulo and later, from 2014 to 2016, at Amanda Bennett’s famous ballet school at Theater Basel. He had previously attended the Brazilian Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Joinville in 2011. He was a prize-winner at the Brazilian Festival de Dança de Joinville, won First Prize at Danzamerica in Argentina in 2013 and reached the final of the New York Youth American Grand Prix. In 2014, he took part in the 42nd Prix de Lausanne. This was followed in 2016 by an engagement in Toulouse with the Ballets de France, directed by Rémi Lartigue, where he appeared in the grand pas de deux from ‘Coppélia’ as well as works choreographed by Mauro de Candia, Michel Forthergill, Mario Piazza and Michael Pink. Pedro Maricato became a member of the Ballett am Rhein company at the beginning of the 2017/18 season. Here he appeared most recently in three pieces choreographed by Demis Volpi: "A simple piece", in "The Nutcracker" in the role of the Snow Queen’s Companion, in "Geschlossene Spiele" in the role of the Customer, and Lobosch in Volpis "Krabt". He danced in Aszure Barton’s "Come In", Twyla Tharp’s "Commentaries on the Floating World", "Le sacre du printemps" by Marcos Morau, "Phlegmatic summer" by Michèle Anne de Mey and "Choleric" by Hélène Blackburn.
