Žilvinas Miškinis

The young Lithuanian bass-baritone Žilvinas Miškinis graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in 2018. He then completed a Master's degree in singing with Nadiezda Kurem at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in 2020. During his studies he took part in opera studios in Lithuania and Gothenburg as well as master classes with Kostas Smoriginas, Herman Keckeis, Robert Hyman, Bo Rosenkull, Barbro Marklund, Ulrika Tenstam, Martin Hellstrom and Almas Vilpa, among others. After a scholarship from the Liz Mohn Culture and Music Foundation and two years in the International Opera Studio at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, where he appeared on stage in a variety of roles, Žilvinas Miškinis has been an ensemble member of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein since the 2022/23 season. Engagements also took him to Vilnius State Opera as Narumov in Tchaikovsky's "Queen of Spades", and in spring 2019 he made his debut as Figaro (Mozart's "Le nozze di Figaro") at the Estonian National Opera. In 2020 he sang the role of Surin (Tchaikovsky "Pique Dame") at Vilnius City Opera, where he shared the stage with Sergey Polyakov, Vida Miknevičiūtė and Almas Švilpa. In the 2022/23 season he made a guest appearance at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Janáček's "Věc Makropulos" as Strojnik. At the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Žilvinas Miškinis has so far appeared as Masetto (Mozart's "Don Giovanni"), Löwe (Eggert's "Iwein Löwenritter"), Angelotti (Puccini's "Tosca"), Lauret (Tchaikovsky's "Die Jungfrau von Orléans"), 2. geharnischter Mann (Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte") and Le Caporal in Donizetti's "La fille du régiment", among others.
His roles for the 2023/24 season include Grenvil (Verdi "La traviata"), Lorenzo (Bellini "I Capuleti e i Montecchi"), Alidoro (Rossini "La Cenerentola"), Haly (Rossini "L'italiana in Algeri") and Second Knight of the Grail (Wagner "Parsifal"). He can also be seen again as a child in Stache's "The Child and the Thing", Lion, Le Caporal and Lauret.
