Opernhaus Düsseldorf and Theater Duisburg are historic buildings erected before barrier-free design was customary all over. Those who need to know how to enter our houses without encountering disablement barriers will be gladly advised by the personnel which takes your telephone reservations. Our modern opera shops in Düsseldorf and Duisburg are of course barrier-free.
WHEELCHAIR POSITIONS IN THE AUDITORIUM
When ordering tickets, be sure to mention if you require wheelchair auditorium space.
In Opernhaus Düsseldorf we offer four regular wheelchair positions in section D (see the house seating plan) and can at any time allot four further positions.
All levels of the auditorium in Opernhaus Düsseldorf can be easily reached by lifts.
Due to construction work on the Werhahn Linie and the KÖ-Bogen the number of parking places for the disabled in immediate proximity to the opera house is temporarily limited.
In Theater Duisburg there are two positions for wheelchairs in the areas B and D (see the house seating plan).
The stalls can be reached by visitors in wheelchairs by means of a stairlift. There are unfortunately no lifts in Theater Duisburg which offer access to the higher tier foyers. The Moselstrasse parking lot has two exclusively allotted parking places for the disabled.
FOR THOSE HARD OF HEARING
Opernhaus Düsseldorf offers inductive loop hearing-aid systems in the stalls and in the second tier which affords both users of hearing aids and those with implanted cochleas a chance to hear the performance better. Please enquire where the appropriate seats are.
The evening staff in Theater Duisburg can lend out a certain quantity of infrared hearing support apparatus against a refundable deposit: infra-red amplifying systems for those with hearing aids and infrared chin-bracket receivers for those without.
