Karin Seyfried

After completing thorough ballet training in her hometown at the Vienna State Opera, Karin Seyfried earned her musical theater degree at the Tanz-Gesangstudio Theater an der Wien.
While still a student, she gained her first stage experience as Meg Giry in “The Phantom of the Opera” (Lloyd Webber), Anne in “La Cage aux Folles” (Herman), and in the world premiere of “Elisabeth” (Levay).
This was followed by many leading and title roles at theaters in Austria and abroad, including Stephanie Mangano in the German premiere of “Saturday Night Fever” (Knighton), Laura in the world premiere of “Miami Nights,” for which Karin Seyfried was honored as “Best Leading Actress in a Rock-Pop Musical,” Empress Sissi in “Elisabeth,” Sandy in “Grease” (Jacobs/Casey), Kathy in “Singin’ in the Rain” (Brown), Mary Magdalene in “Jesus Christ Superstar” (Lloyd Webber), Jenny and Jelly in “Cats” (Lloyd Webber), Jenny in “The Threepenny Opera” (Weill), Reno Sweeney in “Anything Goes” (Porter), Peggy Sawyer in the German premiere of “42nd Street” (Warren), and in her dream role as Velma Kelly in “Chicago” at the Hanover State Opera.
As a stage actress, the Vienna native appeared in the Hamburg production of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” (Thorne) as Ginny Potter, Professor McGonagall, and Dolores Umbridge, as well as in several TV movies and a TV series directed by Professor Peter Weck.
For the 2026–27 season, Karin Seyfried is particularly looking forward to a new challenge: playing the role of Professor Higgins in “My Fair Lady” (Lerner/Loewe) at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
