Christian Grifa

Ballet Repetiteur
Pianist Christian Grifa comes from San Giovanni Rotondo in Italy, and in the course of his training attended master classes of Marcello Abbado, Vincenzo Balzani, Michele Marvulli, Franco Scala and François-Joël Thiollier. During his most recent engagement as coach-pianist for the ballet of the theatre in Mainz, he was also active as composer for various ballet projects, for instance composing the scores for Pascal Touzeau’s “Cinderella” and for the evening “Upcoming Choreographers”. In Pascal Touzeau’s “The Voices” he also performed as pianist. Other compositions included “Die Dunkelheit des Lichts” for the Delattre Dance Company at the Kammerspiele in Mainz, the production “Schmetterlinge sind frei” and “Frühstück bei Tiffany” for the Burghof stage in Dinslaken and “Gift” for the Staatstheater Mainz. As from the 2015/16 season Christian Grifa has a contract with Ballett am Main as ballet pianist. He played one of the piano parts in Kurt Jooss’ ballet “The Green Table” in b.27, in the 2016/17 follows the solo piano and cembalo in Alfred Schnittke’s Concerto grosso No 1 in b.30.
