The Spanish soprano Elena Sancho Pereg trained as a singer in Madrid and London. She has been a member of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein ensemble since 2014/15, making her debut as Zerbinetta (Richard Strauss ‘Ariadne auf Naxos’). This was followed by roles such as Gilda (Verdi ‘Rigoletto’), Oscar (Verdi ‘Un ballo in maschera’), Sophie (Massenet ‘Werther’), Fiaker-Milli (Richard Strauss ‘Arabella’), Norina (Donizetti ‘Don Pasquale’), Nannetta (Verdi ‘Falstaff’), Clorinda (Rossini ‘La Cenerentola’) and Fradl (Weinberg ‘Masel Tov! Wir gratulieren!’). Her repertoire also includes role such as Musetta (Puccini ‘La Bohème’), Lisa (Bellini ‘La sonnambula’), Zerlina and Donna Anna (Mozart ‘Don Giovanni’), Morgana (Handel ‘Alcina’), the Woodbird (Wagner ‘Siegfried’) and Amadeu Vives’s ‘Doña Francisquita’.
Guest engagements have taken her to the opera houses of Barcelona, Oviedo, Antwerp/Gent, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Staatsoper Hamburg, the Aalto Musiktheater in Essen, the Festival Opera at Steinbruch Sankt Margarethen and to the Munich Opera Festival. In 2020 she made her debut at the Teatro Real in Madrid as Oscar, and will return there in guest performances as Susanna (Mozart ‘Le nozze di Figaro’) and Fiaker-Milli. In 2021 she returned to Madrid to sing the soprano part in ‘Carmina Burana’ (Orff) at the Auditorio Nacional. She has appeared at the Opéra national du Rhin as Morgana and at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona as Zerbinetta. Future guest engagements include Alcina in Strasbourg, Elisa (Mozart ‘Il re pastore’) in San Sebastián and Musetta in Oviedo.
