Eva Vogel

Mezzo-soprano Eva Vogel studied at Mannes College of Music in New York and Yale University in the United States. She also worked privately with Christa Ludwig and Brigitte Fassbaender. After completing her studies, Eva Vogel was engaged for two years as a member of the opera studio at the Cologne Opera, before taking up permanent engagements in Düsseldorf and Innsbruck.
Guest engagements in Europe have taken Eva Vogel to venues such as the Royal Opera House in London, the Berlin State Opera, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Teatro Massimo in Palermo and the Teatro Regio in Turin. The mezzo-soprano has performed various Wagner roles at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, the Salzburg Easter Festival and the Lucerne Festival, among others.
She works regularly with conductors such as Ivor Bolton, Andrey Boreyko, Asher Fisch, Michael Francis, Pietari Inkinen, Dirk Kaftan, Axel Kober, Kent Nagano, John Nelson, Jonathan Nott, Ingo Metzmacher, Daniel Raiskin, Simon Rattle, Juraj Valcuha and Duncan Ward.
Concert engagements for symphony concerts with H. Berlioz's “Les Nuits d'été”, the Rückert Lieder and “Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen” by G. Mahler, as well as his 2nd Symphony, Mozart's Requiem, L. v. Beethoven's 9th Symphony, his “Missa Solemnis”, Rossini's “Stabat Mater”’ and Verdi's Requiem have taken them to venues including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Palais des Beaux Arts Brussels, the Philharmonie Berlin, the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, the Ruhr Piano Festival, the Laeiszhalle Hamburg, the Philharmonie Essen and the Auditorium Milan.
Recent engagements include Beethoven's Missa Solemnis and Mozart's Requiem in Turin (RAI, Juraj Valcuha) and Naples (San Carlo, John Axelrod), the Missa Solemnis in Bonn (Beethoven Orchestra, John Nelson), the operas From the House of the Dead in Berlin (Staatsoper, Simon Rattle), “The magic flute” in Turin (Asher Fisch), “The Rhinegold” and “The Valkyrie” in Munich (Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Simon Rattle) and “Was lauert da im Labyrinth” by Jonathan Dove (Berlin Philharmonic, Simon Rattle). Other highlights include Beethoven's Ninth Symphony (Berlin Philharmonic & Simon Rattle in Berlin, Paris, Vienna, New York, Tokyo, Taipei), the Rückert Lieder in Bari, a recital at the Kissinger Sommer, “The Valkyrie” in Beijing (Hong Kong Philharmonic, Jaap van Zweden), Berlioz's “Nuits d'été” at the Beethovenfest Bonn (Beethoven Orchestra/Dirk Kaftan) and with the Tonkünstler Orchestra/Ivor Bolton at the Musikverein in Vienna as well as in Grafenegg and St. Pölten, and concerts with the MDR Symphony Orchestra/Ariel Zukerman.
