Felix Seiler, born in Stuttgart in 1983, studied musical theatre directing at the Theatre Academy of the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre and first worked as assistant director and stage manager at the Hanover State Opera. He was then engaged for several seasons at the Komische Oper Berlin. There he worked closely with Barrie Kosky, whom he regularly assisted. Further work as an assistant took him to the Sydney Opera House, the English National Opera and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London. As an alumnus of the Academy Music Theatre Today of the Deutsche Bank Foundation, he was in the semi-finals of the Ring Award Graz in 2011 and in the final of the European Opera Directing Prize in Madrid in 2015. The freelance director has directed opera, operetta and musicals at the Komische Oper Berlin, the Stadttheater Bremerhaven, the Theater für Niedersachsen Hildesheim, the Theater Osnabrück, the Landestheater Coburg, the Theater Heidelberg, the Staatstheater Cottbus and the Staatsoper Hannover, where he will stage Kálmán's "The Circus Princess" at the end of 2022.
Felix Seiler will make his local directorial debut at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in the 2023/24 season with "Anatevka" (Bock/Stein).www.felixseiler.com
