The soprano Heidi Elisabeth Meier trained in Munich. She won the Anneliese Rothenberger Singing Competition and was also awarded the Bayerischer Kunstförderpreis. In 2010 she was voted Deutschlandradio’s Opera Singer of the Year. Since her earliest engagements at Theater Freiburg and Staatstheater Nürnberg she has sung roles such as Lucia di Lammermoor (Donizetti), Musetta (Puccini ‘La Bohème’), Gilda (Verdi ‘Rigoletto’), Euridice (Gluck ‘Orfeo ed Euridice’), Gretel (Humperdinck ‘Hänsel und Gretel’), Sophie (Strauss ‘Der Rosenkavalier’), Zerbinetta (Strauss ‘Ariadne auf Naxos’), Adele (Strauss ‘Die Fledermaus’), Woglinde (Wagner ‘Das Rheingold’ and ‘Götterdämmerung’), and the Mozart roles Sandrina (‘La finta giardiniera’), Donna Anna (‘Don Giovanni’), Susanna (‘Le nozze di Figaro’), Konstanze (‘Die Entführung aus dem Serail’), Pamina and the Queen of the Night (‘Die Zauberflöte’). She has appeared as a guest in these roles at other opera houses in Germany, Hong Kong and the USA and gives regular concert performances. Heidi Elisabeth Meier joined the ensemble at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in 2012/13, where she has expanded her repertoire with parts such as Romilda (Handel ‘Xerxes’), in the production by Stefan Herheim, and Martinu’s ‘Ariane’.
