Irakli Kakhidze

The Georgian tenor Irakli Kakhidze received his musical education at the conservatory of his hometown Batumi, graduated in 2005 and also attended master classes with Leo Nucci and Ruggero Raimondi. Following his studies, he was a member of the opera studio of the State Music Centre of Batumi, where he acquired a wide range of roles. These include roles such as. Ismaele in Verdi's "Nabucco" and Alfredo in "La Traviata" or Cavaradossi in Puccini's "Tosca" and Rodolfo in "La Bohème", Edgardo in Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor", Nemorino in "L'elisir d'amore", Turridu in Mascagni's "Cavalleria rusticana", Don José in Bizet's "Carmen" and Nadir in "Les pêcheurs de perles" and Don Ottavio in Mozart's "Don Giovanni". Irakli Kakhidze is a laureate of the Georgian Theatre Society as well as the Lado Atanéli Competition. In 2014, he was a finalist of the Paris Opera Awards. From 2011-2013 he was a member of the Centre National d'Artistes Lyriques (CNIPAL) in Marseille and Avignon, and has been an ensemble member at the Nationaltheater Mannheim since the 2017/2018 season. Guest engagements have taken him to the Opéra National de Lorraine (Nancy), the Festival Radio France in Montpellier, the Tbilisi Opera and the Opéra National de Bordeaux, the Tallinn Opera Festival, the Daegu International Opera Festival (South Korea), the Dortmund and Kiel Theaters, the National Opera in Bergen, the Latvian and Finnish National Operas, the Wiesbaden State Opera, and the Hong Kong Opera, among others. At the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Irakli Kakhidze made a guest appearance in the role of Don José in the 2021/22 season and returns in 2023/24 for Turridu.
