Jason Tran, born in 1991, began his training as a conductor with Volker Wangenheim and studied music theory and composition with Johannes Schild and conducting with Rüdiger Bohn at the conservatories in Cologne and Düsseldorf. While still a student, he worked as a choral assistant at the Krefeld-Mönchengladbach Theatre from 2013 to 2016. This was followed by an engagement as solo répétiteur with conducting duties at the Staatstheater Darmstadt from 2016 to 2018, and since 2018/19 he has been engaged in the same capacity at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. He also coaches and accompanies singers and performs as a baritone in concerts. As a conductor, he has led the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra, the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bergische Symphoniker, the Orchestra of the Staatstheater Darmstadt, the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie Koblenz, the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, and the Romanian State Philharmonic Satu Mare, among others. He has received commissions for compositions and arrangements from the Literaturoper Köln, Deutschlandfunk and the Hochschule für Musik, Tanz Köln and others. In the 2022/23 season, Jason Tran will take over the musical direction of Mozart's "Le nozze di Figaro" at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, among others.
