The Armenian soprano Liana Aleksanyan trained in Yerevan and sang the role of Violetta (Verdi ‘La traviata’) while still a student. She made her debut during the 2006/07 season at Staatstheater Braunschweig, where she was also seen in numerous other roles. From 2010 to 2012 she was an ensemble member at the Aalto Theater in Essen. Guest performances took her to leading international opera houses such as the state operas in Stuttgart and Hamburg, Komische Oper Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Oper Köln, Nationaltheater Mannheim as well as to Linz, Oslo, Buenos Aires, Korea, and Milan. Her repertoire includes Mozart parts such as Fiordiligi (‘Così fan tutte’), Donna Anna (‘Don Giovanni’) and Countess Almaviva (‘Le nozze di Figaro’), French roles such as Micaëla (Bizet ‘Carmen’), Antonia (Offenbach ‘Les contes d’Hoffmann’) and Blanche (Poulenc ‘Dialogues des Carmélites’) as well as Verdi’s Luisa Miller, Gilda (‘Rigoletto’), Desdemona (‘Otello’), Amelia (‘Simone Boccanegra’), Elvira (‘Ernani’) and Violetta, Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor and Adina (‘L’elisir d’amore’), Puccini’s Manon Lescaut, Mimì (‘La Bohème’) and Cio-Cio-San (‘Madama Butterfly’).
Liana Aleksanyan has made guest appearances at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein as Micaëla, Donna Anna and Cio-Cio-San. She became a full ensemble member in 2019/20.
