The Armenian soprano Liana Aleksanyan graduated from the Komitas Conservatory in Yerevan in 2005. Already during her studies she made her debut as Violetta (Verdi "La traviata") at the Armenian National Theatre. In 2006 she made her debuts at the Volksoper Wien and the Staatstheater Braunschweig, and in 2009 at the Hamburg State Opera, where she has been a regular guest ever since. From 2010 to 2012 she was an ensemble member of the Aalto-Theater Essen. Guest engagements have taken her nationally and internationally to major opera houses such as the Stuttgart State Opera, Komische Oper and Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Mannheim National Theatre, as well as to Seoul, Oslo, Buenos Aires, Valencia, Florence, Trieste, Bari, Macerata, Teatro alla Scala and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden. Her repertoire includes Mozart roles such as Contessa Almaviva ("Le nozze di Figaro") and in the French repertoire Micaëla (Bizet "Carmen"), Antonia (Offenbach "Les Contes d'Hoffmann") and Blanche (Poulenc "Dialogues des Carmélites"). In the Italian repertoire she presents roles such as Verdi's Desdemona ("Otello"), Amelia ("Simone Boccanegra"), Elvira ("Ernani"), Elisabetta ("Don Carlo"), Aida ("Aida") as well as Puccini's Manon Lescaut ("Manon Lescaut"), Mimì ("La Bohème"), Cio-Cio-San ("Madama Butterfly"), Tosca ("Tosca") and many more. Before Liana Aleksanyan joined the ensemble of Deutsche Oper am Rhein in the 2019/2020 season, she already made guest appearances here as Micaëla, Donna Anna ("Don Giovanni" by Mozart) and Cio-Cio-San, among others. Most recently she was heard as Contessa Almaviva, Micaëla, Mimì, Tosca, Cio-Cio-San and in the title role of Cilea's "Adriana Lecouvreur".
In the 2023/24 season, she will interpret the roles of Cio-Cio-San, Marschallin (R. Strauss "Der Rosenkavalier") and Verdi's Elisabetta on the Rhine. www.lianaaleksanyan.com
