Lucas Erni

Born in Santo Tomé in Argentina, he received his training at the Instituto Superior de Arte there at the Teatro Colón and at the San Francisco Ballet School. In 2013 he was a finalist at the Prix de Lausanne. The following year, Helgi Tomasson invited him to join the San Francisco Ballet, where he performed as a soloist in numerous leading roles until 2023. At the start of the 2023/24 season, he moved to the Badisches Staatsballett in Karlsruhe. His extensive repertoire there included Romeo in Kenneth Mac Millan's “Romeo and Juliet”, Basilio in “Don Quixote”, Siegfried in “Swan Lake”, the title role in “The Nutcracker”, Don José in Marcia Haydee's “Carmen”, Lenski in John Cranko's “Onegin”, the Faun in Alexei Ratmansky's “The Seasons” and the Golden Idol in “La Bayadere” by Natalia Makarova. He has also performed in works by George Balanchine, William Forsythe and Jiří Kylián as well as at various galas around the world. Lucas Erni is a member of Ballett am Rhein from the 2024/25 season.
