Nami Ito

Japanese dancer Nami Ito studied dance at the Tokyo Metropolitan Senior High School of Performing Arts and at the Academy of Dance in Mannheim. In 2015, she won a prize at the Youth America Grand Prix and already performed as a student in the production “das kleine schwarze / the riot of spring” at the Staatsballett Karlsruhe. As a member of the ballet studio of the Staatsballett Karlsruhe, she performed in Youri Vámos' “The Nutcracker - A Christmas Story”, in Sir Kenneth MacMillan's “Romeo and Juliet” and at the 2018 Ballet Gala in Sir Kenneth MacMillan's “Concerto”. In the following season, Nami Ito joined the ensemble of the Staatsballett Karlsruhe. Several solo roles were created for her in Thiago Bordin's “Zukunft braucht Herkunft”. She danced in “Seid Umschlungen” and was most recently seen as the Bride in “Giselle”, in Hans van Manen's “Große Fuge” and as Clara Marie in “Das Mädchen und der Nussknacker” by Bridget Breiner. Nami Ito joined Ballett am Rhein in the 2024/25 season.
