Niels Lanz

Niels Lanz joined the sound department of the Frankfurt Ballet in 1993 and was given the opportunity to develop his skills under the artistic direction of William Forsythe in many productions such as “EIDOS:TELLOS”, “Endless House”, “Kammer/Kammer” and “Decreation”. At the end of the nineties he began producing his own electronic music, including the music for David Dawson's “The Grey Area” and “00:00” for the Dutch National Ballet. From 2005 to 2011 he was head of the sound and video department of The Forsythe Company, where he won the prestigious New York Bessie Award in 2007 for the composition of “Three Atmospheric Studies”.
Since 2012 he has been working as a freelance sound designer, master of event technology and project manager for various productions, including the Avignon Festival, La Biennale di Venezia, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Ruhrtriennale and the ZKM in Karlsruhe.
