Paula Alves

Dancer
The Brazilian Paula Alves began training as a dancer aged five at the Fundação das Artes de São Caetano do Sul and continued her studies at the Especial Academia de Ballet in São Paolo, Brazil. She made her first professional stage appearances with Conpanhia Brasileira de Danças Clássicas, as an apprentice with Texas Ballet Theater and as a member of São Paulo Dance Company. She danced the role of Odette/Odile in Mario Galizzi’s ‘Swan Lake’ and in works choreographed by Uwe Scholz, Thiago Bordin, Marcia Haydée and Ben Stevenson. In 2011 she won the silver medal in the junior division of the NYC Finale of the Youth America Grand Prix.
Paula Alves became a member of the Ballett am Rhein company at the beginning of the 2020/21 season. She has since danced the role of Clara in Demis Volpi’s ‘The Nutcracker’ and in other works including Twyla Tharp’s ‘Commentaries on the Floating World.’
