Renée Morloc

The contralto Renée Morloc studied singing in Stuttgart and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. She made her opera debut in Mannheim in 1990 as Erda (Wagner "Siegfried"). From 1992 to 1996 she was engaged at the Hanover State Opera, and since 1996 she has been a member of the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. The focus of her repertoire is on dramatic roles such as Verdi's Ulrica and Amneris, Azucena, Mrs. Quickly as well as Wagner's Fricka, Erda, Waltraute, Mary and Brangäne. With her roles by R. Strauss - Herodias ("Salome"), Amme ("Die Frau ohne Schatten") and Klytämnestra ("Elektra") - she continues to cause a sensation. Guest engagements have taken Renée Morloc nationally and internationally to major opera houses and concert halls such as Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Dresden, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Helsinki, Antwerp, Ghent, Prague, Madrid, Catania and Tokyo. At the Salzburg Festival she appeared as Larina (Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin") and Stolzius' Mother (Zimmermann's "The Soldiers"), which she also sang at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Her guest appearances include Marthe in the world premiere of "Le Guru" (Petitgirard) at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, at the Opéra national de Paris as Klementia (Hindemith "Sancta Susanna"), in Naples and Antwerp as Clytemnestra, Begbick (Weill/Brecht "Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny) and Grandmother in Prokofiev's "The Gambler". She also appears regularly in concert with an extensive repertoire. In the 2022/23 season Renée Morloc will be on stage as Gertrud and Quickly (Verdi "Falstaff") at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
