The tenor Sergej Khomov trained in his native city of Odessa. Since 1991 he has given guest performances at venues including the Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theatres, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Teatro la Fenice in Venice, the Berliner Staatsoper, Vienna Volksoper and in Geneva, Lisbon, Lyon, Genoa and Amsterdam. In 2010 he made an extremely successful debut at Theater Basel as Radamès in Calixto Bieto’s production of Verdi’s ‘Aida’. He has been an ensemble member at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein since 1996/97. His repertoire includes Verdi’s Alfredo (‘La traviata’), Riccardo (‘Un ballo in maschera’) and Don Carlo, Edgardo (Donizetti ‘Lucia di Lammermoor’), Hoffmann (Offenbach ‘Les Contes d’Hoffmann’), Lensky (Tchaikovsky ‘Eugene Onegin’), Massenet’s Des Grieux (‘Manon’) and Werther, Don José (Bizet ‘Carmen’), Julien (Charpentier ‘Louise’), Mephistopheles / Agrippa (Prokofiev ‘The Fiery Angel’), the Prince (Dvorák ‘Rusalka’), Turiddu (Mascagni ‘Cavalleria rusticana’), Grimaldi (Schreier ‘Schade dass sie eine Hure war’) and Hermann (Tchaikovsky ‘Queen of Spades’) and Herodes (Strauss ‘Salome’).
