Günes Gürle

The Turkish bass-baritone Günes Gürle has been an ensemble member of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein since 2005/06. He was named "best male opera singer 2013" for his interpretation of Pollux (Rameau "Castor et Pollux") at the Düsseldorf Opera House. His extensive repertoire includes Mozart's Figaro and Bartolo ("Le nozze di Figaro"), Giovanni and Leporello ("Don Giovanni"), Don Alfonso ("Così fan tutte") and Osmin ("Die Entführung aus dem Serail"), among many other roles, Verdi's Sparafucile ("Rigoletto") and Ferrando ("Il trovatore"), Donizetti's Sulpice ("La Fille du régiment"), Rossini's Don Basilio ("Il barbiere di Siviglia"), Don Magnifico ("La Cenerentola"), Bellini's Oroveso ("Norma") and Lord Gualtiero Valton ("I puritani"). Puccini's Colline ("La Bohème"), Angelotti ("Tosca") and Timur ("Turandot"), Massenet's Sancho ("Don Quichotte"), Britten's Swallow ("Peter Grimes"), the title role in Handel's "Giulio Cesare", Capulet (Blacher's "Romeo and Juliet"), Panthée and Narbal (Berlioz's "Les Troyens") are also part of his repertoire. Guest engagements have taken him to the Vienna Festival, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Den Norske Opera in Oslo, Opéra Royal de Versailles, the Grand-Théâtre de Geneve, MusikTheater an der Wien and Aalto-Musiktheater in Essen, as well as to the Munich Radio Orchestra.
Günes Gürle's most recent roles at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein include Robert (Wittenbrink "Comedian Harmonists in Concert"), Dulcamara (Donizetti "L'elisir d'amore"), Sulpice, Antonio (Mozart "Le nozze di Figaro") and in concerts. In the 2023/24 season he will be on stage as Lazar Wolf in Jerry Bock's "Anatevka", Altgesell in Janáček's "Jenůfa" and again as Marchese d'Obigny (Verdi's "La traviata"), Don Magnifico, Second Commissar, Sulpice and Speaker in Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte".
