Elizabeth Clachan

Lizzie is an award-winning stage and costume designer working in theatre, opera, dance and installation. She was a founding member of the London based arts collective ‘Shunt’ and designed all their site specific productions. Her recent opera credits include stage designs for “Lucie de Lammermoor” for the Opera Comique, “The Greek Passion” for the Salzburger Festspiele, “Nixon in China” for the Staatsoper Hanover, “Lucia di Lammermoor” for The Metropolitan Opera & L.A. Opera and “The Blue Woman” for the Royal Opera House and “Jenůfa” for the Dutch National Opera.
In 2023 Lizzie won Designer of the Year at the International Opera Awards. Her recent theatre designs includes “The Oresteia” and “The Lady from the Sea” for The Bridge Theatre in London, “The Truth” for the West End in London, “Das Ferienhaus” for the Burg Theatre in Vienna, “1984” for Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in Stockholm, “Robin Redbreast” for Manchester Factory International, “The Witches” for the National Theatre in London, “Days and Wine and Roses” for Broadway and “The Little Foxes” and “Yerma” for The Young Vic in London, the latter touring to The Schaubuhne, Berlin & The Armoury in NYC.
