Sarah Ferede

After engagements at the Landestheater Coburg, the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Staatstheater Braunschweig, the German-Ethiopian mezzo-soprano Sarah Ferede, born in Hamburg, has been an ensemble member of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein since 2012. She was previously engaged at the Staatstheater Braunschweig from 2008. The student of Prof. Charlotte Lehmann has won several prizes at renowned singing competitions. Guest engagements have taken her to the Hanover State Opera, the Komische Oper Berlin, the Theater Bonn and the Nationaltheater Mannheim, among others. As part of her busy international concert schedule, she has worked with conductors such as Adam Fischer, Enoch zu Guttenberg, Ulf Schirmer, Charles Dutoit, Kent Nagano and Stefan Soltesz. She can be heard as Sieglinde and Waltraute on the complete recording of Wagner's "Der Ring des Nibelungen" with the Duisburg Philharmonic conducted by Axel Kober. At the Deutsche Oper am Rhein she made her debut as Adalgisa (Bellini "Norma"), Charlotte (Massenet "Werther") and Eboli (Verdi "Don Carlos"), among others. She has also appeared as Hänsel and Gertrud (Humperdinck "Hänsel und Gretel"), Sieglinde (Wagner "Die Walküre"), Waltraute and 2nd Norn (Wagner "Götterdämmerung"), 2. Dame (Mozart "Die Zauberflöte"), Santuzza (Mascagni "Cavalleria rusticana"), Hippolita (Schreier "Schade, dass sie eine Hure war"), Dangeville (Cilea "Adriana Lecouvreur"), Vitellia (Mozart "La clemenza di Tito"), Prinz Orlofsky (J. Strauß Sohn "Die Fledermaus") as well as Donna Elvira (Mozart "Don Giovanni"). In the 2023/24 season Sarah Ferede interprets Santuzza, Mère Marie in Poulenc's "Dialogues des Carmélites", Kundry in Wagner's "Parsifal" and 2nd Lady.
