Harry Ogg

British conductor Harry Ogg has been Kapellmeister at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein since the 2022/23 season, where he recently took over the musical direction of “Rusalka” (Dvořák) in a production staged by Vasily Barkhatov. He has also been responsible for the musical direction in productions such as Korngold's “Die tote Stadt”, Puccini's “Tosca”, Mozart's “Don Giovanni” and “Die Zauberflöte”, as well as Moritz Eggert's “Iwein Löwenritter”. Ogg made his debut at the Cologne Opera in 2023 with the world premiere of “The Strangers” (Frank Pesci) and subsequently conducted “Hänsel und Gretel” (Humperdinck) there as well. He also made his debut at the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic, the Brucknerhaus Orchestra Linz, the George Enescu Philharmonic, and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Luxembourg. He also returned to the SWR Symphony Orchestra, the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, and the Dresden Philharmonic. From 2019 to 2022, Harry Ogg was musical assistant to François-Xavier Roth at the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne. In addition to various projects of his own, Harry Ogg stepped in at the last minute for Ivor Bolton to conduct Gürzenich-Orchester Köln making his Het Concertgebouw debut to much acclaim. Harry Ogg worked as associate conductor at the Welsh National Opera, where he conducted Bizet's “Carmen” and several gala concerts. He has also conducted at various opera houses in Europe, including “Königskinder” (Humperdinck), “The Cunning Little Vixen” (Janáček), and “Madama Butterfly” (Puccini). Harry Ogg has won numerous prizes and awards, including third prize at the Mahler Conducting Competition in 2020, second prize at the MDR Competition in 2018, and was a finalist in the Donatella Flick Competition.
At the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Harry Ogg will take over the musical direction of Bock's “Anatevka” and Anno Schreier's children's opera “Die Blaue Sau” in the 2025/26 season and will be featured in the concert performance of Beethoven's “Fidelio.”
