The Slovakian baritone Richard Šveda trained in Bratislava and in Graz. He has won numerous prizes in international competitions. After one year in the Deutsche Oper am Rhein’s Opera Studio, Richard Šveda became a member of the full ensemble in 2010/11. His repertoire includes the Mozart parts Don Giovanni, Count Almaviva (‘Le nozze di Figaro’), Papageno (‘Die Zauberflöte’) and Guglielmo (‘Così fan tutte’) as well as Marcello / Schaunard (Puccini ‘La Boheme’), Sharpless (Puccini ‘Madama Butterfly’), Escamillo (Bizet ‘Carmen’), Eugene Onegin (Tchaikovsky), Albert (Massenet ‘Werther’), Lord Cecil (Donizetti ‘Maria Stuarda’), Silvio (Leoncavallo ‘Pagliacci’), Malatesta (Donizetti ‘Don Pasquale’), Herr Fluth (Nicolai ‘Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor’) and Gunther (Wagner ‘Götterdämmerung’). Guest performances have taken the baritone to houses including the Volksoper in Vienna, the National Theatre in Prague, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona, the Opéra Comique Paris, the Shanghai Grand Theatre, the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, New Zealand Opera, Semperoper Dresden, the Aalto Musiktheater in Essen and Oper Dortmund. He has performed in concerts and Lied
recitals in venues including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Vienna Musikverein and the Prinzregententheater in Munich.
