Rena Kleifeld

Rena Kleifeld studied singing at the conservatoires in Würzburg and Munich. She received formative artistic inspiration through a scholarship from the Puccini Foundation NYC, which enabled her to study with Dolora Zajick in New York.
Her first engagements took her to the Tyrolean Festival Erl, where she appeared, amongst other roles, as the First Maid in “Elektra”, Schwertleite in “Die Walküre” and the First Norn in “Götterdämmerung”. Her solo career began with her debut as Erda in Richard Wagner’s “Siegfried” at various theatres, including the Theater Hagen, the Theater Gießen, the Theater Kiel and the Theater Bonn; international guest appearances took her to Belgium, Spain, Italy, Israel, Switzerland, Poland and China.
Rena Kleifeld has gained particular recognition as a performer of modern opera repertoire. On the concert stage, she devotes herself primarily to the sacred and dramatic repertoire – from Johann Sebastian Bach’s Passions to Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem. Numerous radio and recording performances document her artistic career.
Rena Kleifeld returns to the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in the role of the Mother Superior in Puccini’s "Suor Angelica".
