David Fischer has been a member of the ensemble at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein since the 2019/20 season. At his home house and at numerous prestigious venues, such as the Salzburg Festival, the Semperoper Dresden, the MusikTheater an der Wien, and the Hamburg State Opera he performs roles suited to his vocal range, including Lenski (Tchaikovsky’s "Eugene Onegin"), Tamino (Mozart’s "Die Zauberflöte"), the title role in Mozart’s "Don Giovanni", Alfred (Strauss Jr.’s "Die Fledermaus"), Cassio (Verdi’s "Otello"), and Steuermann (Wagner’s "Der fliegende Holländer"). Fischer collaborates with conductors such as Joana Mallwitz, Adam Fischer, Philippe Herreweghe, Tarmo Peltokoski, Jordi Savall, and René Jacobs, and has performed with orchestras including the Vienna Philharmonic, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra. He has toured Asia and Europe, appeared multiple times at the Salzburg Festival, and performed as a guest artist at Geneva’s Victoria Hall and the Leipzig Bach Festival. As a lieder singer, Fischer has performed at the Festival Classique des Haudères, in Geneva, and at the Schumannfest in Bonn, among other venues. Recordings featuring works such as Bach’s "Johannes-Passion", Mendelssohn’s *Die erste Walpurgisnacht*, and Mozart’s "Great Mass in C minor" document his artistic work.
In the 2026/27 season, David Fischer will make his debut at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein as David (Wagner’s "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg") and Arturo (Donizetti’s "Lucia di Lammermoor"). He will also appear there as Tamino (Mozart’s "Die Zauberflöte") and participate in a lieder matinee. Furthermore, he will make guest appearances as the Evangelist (Bach "Johannes-Passion") at the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam and as Tamino at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London.
