Aleksandar Noshpal

Aleksandar Noshpal (b. 1973, Skopje, North Macedonia) is a distinguished designer whose career seamlessly bridges Haute Couture and international theatrical design. Educated at ESMOD Paris, he earned diplomas in Fashion Design (1992) and Pattern Making with an Haute Couture specialization (1995), winning the Grand Prix for his final collection from a jury led by Paco Rabanne and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. He furthered his expertise with a Master’s in Fashion Management and Marketing from the UK's University for the Creative Arts in 2008.
Following early roles as Assistant Designer at Frederic Molenac (1993–1994) and First Design Assistant at the Parisian Haute Couture house GRÈS (1994–1995), Noshpal returned to North Macedonia. There, he established his own Haute Couture atelier (1996–2007), served as Artistic Director for prominent local fashion houses, and collaborated widely across styling, fashion marketing, and humanitarian campaigns.
As a prolific costume and set designer (1998–2026), he has created over 90 works across drama, opera, and ballet. His dynamic vision has driven collaborations with renowned directors and choreographers at internationally esteemed institutions, including the Bolshoi Theatre, Paris National Opera, Vienna State Opera, Leipzig State Opera, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Croatian National Theatre, Ivan Vazov National Theatre, and the Shenyang Ballet Company. His distinguished portfolio has been recognized with Best Costume and Set Design awards in France, Serbia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia.
Nationally, his cultural impact is highlighted by a 2010 government commission to design the ceremonial uniform for the Guard of the President of North Macedonia. He has also shaped visual identities for key cultural acts, notably the ethno-jazz band Synthesis (1997–2025), and designed costumes for North Macedonia's Eurovision Song Contest representatives (2000, 2002, 2004, 2019).
Active in academia since 2008, Noshpal has held roles as Dean and Assistant Professor at universities in North Macedonia and Montenegro. He currently lectures in Fashion and Costume Design at the Academy of Fine Arts at St. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje.
