Scouts for Opera and Ballet

What would theatre be without an audience and their response that ideally go around – when the audience talks about their experiences, sparks curiosity and makes art the talk of the town.
That is what our scouts for opera and ballet are all about in Düsseldorf and Duisburg: Visitors of different professions and worlds, enthusiastic opera experts or open-minded newbies - our scouts represent the diversity of our audience. They are invited to experience the premieres of the current season and talk about them right afterwards. A round of talks offers room for first impressions, opinions and question: How did the combination of music, theatre, stage and costume affect them? What did surprise, touch or irritate them? What questions are left unanswered? And what will they tell their friends and families about their experience?

The scouts are discussing a premiere.
Via the Rheinische Post newspaper which accompanies the project since 2009 the scouts' voices reach the public in both cities. Furthermore, there recommendations are spread on our website and social media channels. With curiosity and a joy in reflection the become guides on musical theatre.
For the 2024/25 season we invited a brand-new circle of scouts to come see our premieres. A few days after their impressions are published on the ins sites of the respective productions.
Ich habe wesentlich genauer hingeschaut und hingehört. Wie vielfältig man Oper oder Ballett gestalten kann, war mir vorher nicht wirklich bewusst.
