After engagements at the Landestheater Coburg, the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Staatstheater Braunschweig, the German-Ethiopian mezzo-soprano Sarah Ferede, born in Hamburg, has been an ensemble member of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein since 2012. She was previously engaged at the Staatstheater Braunschweig from 2008 onwards. She has won several prizes at renowned singing competitions. Guest engagements have taken her to the Hanover State Opera, the Komische Oper Berlin, the Theater Bonn and the Nationaltheater Mannheim, and others. As part of her busy international concert schedule, she has worked with conductors such as Adam Fischer, Enoch zu Guttenberg, Ulf Schirmer, Charles Dutoit, Kent Nagano and Stefan Soltesz. On the complete recording of Wagner's "Der Ring des Nibelungen" with the Duisburger Philharmoniker conducted by Axel Kober, she can be heard as Sieglinde and Waltraute ("Götterdämmerung"). At the Deutsche Oper am Rhein she made her debut as Adalgisa (Bellini "Norma"), Charlotte (Massenet "Werther") and Eboli (Verdi "Don Carlos"), among others. She has also appeared as Hänsel and Gertrud (Humperdinck "Hänsel und Gretel"), Sieglinde (Wagner "Die Walküre"), Waltraute and 2nd Norn (Wagner "Götterdämmerung"), 2. Dame (Mozart "Die Zauberflöte"), Santuzza (Mascagni "Cavalleria rusticana"), Hippolita (Schreier "Schade, dass sie eine Hure war"), Dangeville (Cilea "Adriana Lecouvreur") and Vitellia (Mozart "La clemenza di Tito"). In the 2022/23 season Sarah Ferede will interpret the roles of the 2nd Lady, Prince Orlofsky (J. Strauss Sohn "Die Fledermaus"), Donna Elvira (Mozart "Don Giovanni"), and others. She will also participate in "Swinging Christmas", in the series "Symphoniker im Foyer" and in the 5th Haniel Klassik Open Air.
