Liana Aleksanyan

The Armenian soprano Liana Aleksanyan graduated from the Komitas Conservatory in Yerevan in 2005 and made her debut at the Armenian National Theatre as Violetta (Verdi "La traviata") while still being at university. In 2006 she made her debut at the Staatstheater Braunschweig, and in 2009 at the Hamburg State Opera, where she has been a regular guest ever since. From 2010 to 2012 she was an ensemble member of the Aalto Theatre in Essen. Guest engagements have taken her to nationally and internationally important opera houses such as the Stuttgart State Opera, the Komische Oper and the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Cologne Opera, the Nationaltheater Mannheim as well as to Linz, Oslo, Buenos Aires, Korea and Milan. Her repertoire includes Mozart roles such as Fiordiligi ("Così fan tutte"'), Donna Anna ("Don Giovanni") and Contessa Almaviva ("Le nozze di Figaro"). In the French repertoire she can be heard as Micaëla ("Carmen" by Bizet), Antonia ("Les contes d'Hoffmann" by Offenbach) and Blanche ("Dialogues des Carmélites" by Poulenc) and in the Italian repertoire she presents roles such as Verdi's Luisa Miller, Gilda ("Rigoletto"), Desdemona ("Otello"), Amelia ("Simone Boccanegra") and Elvira ("Ernani"), Donizetti's title role in "Lucia di Lammermoor" and Adina ("L'elisir d'amore") as well as Puccini's Manon Lescaut, Mimì ("La Bohème") and Cio-Cio-San ("Madama Butterfly"). At Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Liana Aleksanyan made guest appearances as Micaëla, Donna Anna and Cio-Cio-San, among others. In 2019/20, she became a permament ensemble member and was most recently heard as Contessa Almaviva, Micaëla and in Cilea's title role "Adriana Lecouvreur". In the 2022/23 season she will interpret the roles of Cio-Cio-San, Adriana Lecouvreur as well as Tosca (Puccini) and can be heard at the Haniel Klassik Open Air.
