Beniamin Pop comes from Bistritz in Romania and studied singing with Marius Vlad at the Gheorghe Dima College in Cluj-Napoca. The bass was a finalist at the Belvedere Competition in 2018 and the Virginia Zeani Competition in 2019, and also completed master classes with Kammersängerin Linda Watson, Bo Skovhus, Franz Grundheber and Peter Seiffert. Before joining the ensemble of Deutsche Oper am Rhein in the 2018/19 season, Beniamin Pop was a member of the opera studio here from 2016 to 2018. In Düsseldorf and Duisburg he has since performed, among others. as Masetto (Mozart "Don Giovanni"), Un Frate (Verdi "Don Carlos"), Count Ceprano (Verdi "Rigoletto"), Montano (Verdi "Otello"), Angelotti (Puccini "Tosca"), Surin (Tchaikovsky "Pique Dame"), Rocking Chair / Tree (Ravel "L'Enfant et les sortilèges"), Colline (Puccini "La Bohème") and Melisso (Handel "Alcina"). In he interpreted Figaro (Mozart "Le nozze di Figaro"), The Prince of Boullion (Cilea "Adriana Lecouvreur"), Publius (Mozart "La clemenza di Tito"), Zuniga (Bizet "Carmen") and Dottore Grenvil (Verdi "La traviata") as well as Uncle Bonzo (Puccini "Madama Butterfly"), Bertrand (Tchaikovsky "The Maid of Orleans") and Sagrestano (Puccini "Tosca"). At the Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca he also sang roles such as Lodovico (Verdi "Otello"), Monterone (Verdi "Rigoletto"), Samuel (Verdi "Un ballo in maschera") and Angelotti. He made a guest appearance in Bucharest as Lakai / Truffaldino in R. Strauss' "Ariadne auf Naxos". At the 2022 Heidenheim Opera Festival he appeared on stage as Hermann (Wagner "Tannhäuser"). Beniamin Pop's roles for the 2023/24 season include Un Frate, Dottore Grenvil as well as Bertrand, Uncle Bonzo and Sarastro in Mozart's "The Magic Flute".
